My simple, easy, painless "modest proposal" is quite different from Dr. Swift's ... together let's help students, educators, scholars and poetry lovers connect with the world's greatest poets!
This is an astonishingly comprehensive collection in the English language of almost every genre of poetry created in the recorded history of the world's poetry. Hard copy collections cannot possibly begin to include such a universal insight into the human mind at its most aroused and perceptive.
So many realities, so many locations, so many human traditions. Such riches available to anyone who cares. A great gift to the world. Michael Burch is a benefactor to posterity. This collection is unequalled.
Thanks Janet, I'm glad you appreciate the scope of what I've done so far.
As someone who has tried for three decades to help readers connect with the best poets, through The HyperTexts, I was unhappy to see Google directing readers to "world's greatest poets" pages that failed to mention some of the greatest poets to ever pick up a pen.
One of the highest-ranked pages didn't even mention Shakespeare!
So I decided to come up with a page that not only mentioned 250 of the greatest poets of all time, but delved into their work and offered examples that would encourage readers to explore further.
I think it's the best "launching pad" for students and poetry lovers, and some of the alleged "experts" might learn a thing or two as well.

Thanks Janet, that means a lot coming from a poet I admire so much.
