These are my English translations of the Palestinian poets Mahmoud Darwish, Walid Khazindar, Kamal Nasser, Fadwa Tuqan and Tawfik Zayyad aka Tawfiq Ziad.
I enjoy reading any poetry translations and Arabic poetry has a fine tradition. It’s quite a bit to work through though. You don’t think “a little, often” might be a better format? Y’know… bite-size…?
What a great posting!! There’s just so much to know and hear in these authors voices. Thanks
I'm glad you liked my translations and these are damned good voices to listen to, with racism and intolerance on the rise in the US and elsewhere.
Thank you for offering these poems in a English so we can access them, again and again 🙏🏼😊
My goal with these translations is to help marvelous Palestinian poets reach more readers, in English.
Thanks for your support.
🙏🏼 and we will share them.
Yes, please do share the translations.
I love Darwish! Thank you for all of this. It was wonderful. 🙏❤️

My favorite poetry book is the Norton Anthology of Poetry, with 2157 pages.
Separating the poems would make them much harder to find for Google searchers.

What is "unacademic" about that?
He’s not nowhere near a pinball wizard he doesn’t move fast, giggle giggle, I’m so bad, I know cause my mama told me so.

Lame.
I don't remember holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to read my translations.
Academics have been known to disagree.
A very strange exchange, no?
Thank you for these translations 🖤 🤍 🙏 💚 ♥️
