These are the best vocal performances of all time, by expected names like Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin, but also by names you may not have encountered before, who are likely to amaze you...
being raised catholic was not all it was cracked up to be. I have a very different view of religion now and it has nothing to do with heaven or hell. Music was created to elevate our human souls to the highest place we can be. All music has a place on this earth.
I have Ronnie James Dio very high on my list, in the highest honorable mentions just after my top ten. And I also listed him high for two songs under "best vocals." I have him in the highest ranks.
I think Gillan is very talented but he gets a bit screamy for my taste in music. I like Coverdale and Vedder okay, but I like other male vocalists better.
I did mention Minnie's incredible vocal range. I did mention David Draiman of Disturbed (no "e" in his name if you did a search). I had Annie in my top ten female singers and mentioned her five times.
I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to that beautiful Ave Maria. I am envious of those that can sing …….. since I can’t carry a tune in a wooden bucket. This music started my day in a spectacular way.
Try Broderick Smith’s rendition of ‘Ocean Deep’ at the Andrew Durant Memorial Concert. The song was written by Durant while he was on his deathbed, at age 25. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G7v5m6XcZIw
Your lists are amazing. I admit that many many of these songs I have no knowledge about but many others are great songs that somehow escaped my mind.
PS personally I always liked Billy Joel “A Matter of Trust” and was surprised that it was not on the Billy Joel list. Minor quibble 😄
I will add it and credit you, thanks.

Good music is a joy and comfort.
There was no hell in the Hebrew Bible. The authors of the New Testament made it up, probably because it was good for revenues.
Robbie Robertson, one of my all time favorites 💥🤩❤️
I cannot argue with Bobby Hatfield - the performance of a generation.
Yes, a vocal masterpiece.
And he charmed all the girls out of their socks when singing it live.
Amazing post! Thank you.
Glad you liked it, thanks.
I’m going to have some amazing playlists!
Thanks!
There are some rare treasures there, happy hunting!
Bono?!?
You mention so many names - too many to process really…….
……..but I don’t think I saw mention of Ian Gillan, David Coverdale or Ronnie James Dio…….…or Eddie Vedder.
As for females……where’s Sandy Denny and Ellie Brookes?

Or Annie Lenox,orMinnie Ripperton. At least Eric Burdon got a couple of mentions. Did I miss David Draimen, Disturbed.

Oops I missed that. Oh hides his head as he slinks away and puts on some Chess records.
No problem, it's a big page.
Your suggestions are always welcome.
With respect - you include too much data to absorb properly.
Anyone can stop reading anytime, so I fail to see your logic.
One can stop at the top 10, the top 20, etc.
There are no guns held to anyone's heads.
I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to that beautiful Ave Maria. I am envious of those that can sing …….. since I can’t carry a tune in a wooden bucket. This music started my day in a spectacular way.
You are very welcome.
Such a beautiful performance of the song!
I have written words to my own "Ave Maria" even though I'm not Catholic, but so far no one has set it to music.
I asked one other time, do you sleep Michael?
I paraphrase, my muse keeps me awake!
That’s for real!
I sleep when my body demands it.
Axl Rose 💥🤩
I have Axl Rose mentioned 10 times, so he's well represented.
Yes! So many of these are amazing. I’m especially partial to kd Lang’s version of Hallelujah
Yes, and she matches the great Roy Orbison note for note in Crying.

I'm listening to it now, thanks.
