Some terrible duds in there (two by Prince, for starters) but I spose it demonstrates just how personal these things are. I would nominate John Martyn’s version of Spencer the Rover.
Immigrant Song is moving if one has empathy for the victims of the Vikings. It's a different song from Back in Black, having to do with real history and real "fields of gore."
I will add ‘Who Knows Where The Time Goes’, thanks.
You mentioned here one of the songs that always brings me to tears - Vincent. I hear the first chords and I become a puddle. another song that makes me cry every time, as if the greatest disaster has struck me personally, is Down Easter Alexa by Billy Joel. I think Shameless by him is the most beautiful love song I have ever heard.
I already have a number of your favorites like Kashmir, War Pigs, Snowblind, Like A Rolling Stones, and songs by Ozzy, Joni Mitchell, the Allman Brothers, Chicago and Nirvana.
I will add:
In My Time of Dying
I'm just not a Who fan other than Love Reign O'er Me.
I applaud the time and effort you took to make this list.
Additionally, you note quite a few songs I absolutely enjoy listening to, as well as quite a few I’ve never heard (amazing, since I consider myself a listener with wide interests.)
Your 50 is 73.
I have a lot of ties, admittedly.

If you think "When Doves Cry" is a dud, we exist in different dimensions.
I will add your nomination and credit you.
Yeah sorry, I just don’t get Prince at all. It’s probably a me problem.
No one can argue with what you don't like.
I don't care for many of his songs but I think some are masterpieces:
When Doves Cry
Little Red Corvette
Nothing Compares 2 U
Raspberry Beret
I don’t care for him, but he had a few good songs. From 1999 and Purple Rain.
You could add ‘Mortal City’, ‘Best Babysitter’ and ‘When I was a Boy’ by Dar Williams and a lot more Joni Mitchell eg Hejira
I have added your nominations and credited you, thanks.
Sandy Denny wrote ‘Who knows where the time goes’ she didn’t cover it.
Thanks for the info, will correct.
Ballad of Penny Evans, Steve Goodman (dare you to get through it without tears)
Sam Stone, John Prine
I have added them both, thanks.
"Where Have All The Good Times Gone, as performed by The Kinks (If you're feeling cheeky), or Bowie (if wanna act louche).
Can this be a Spirify playlist?
I will add the song and mention both artists, thanks.
If someone turns one of my lists into a playlist, please let me know!
Layla and Immigrant Song are ‘moving’?!?
In the same way as Highway Star, Bomber and Back in Black I suppose.
‘Who Knows Where The Time Goes’?
Layla is a very moving song.
Immigrant Song is moving if one has empathy for the victims of the Vikings. It's a different song from Back in Black, having to do with real history and real "fields of gore."
I will add ‘Who Knows Where The Time Goes’, thanks.
One song two different versions, When I Was a Young Girl. Julie Driscoli, BrianAuger and the Trinity (album Streetnoise) andNina Simone (Folksy Nina)
I will add both versions, thanks.

Vincent is a great, great song.
Down Easter Alexa is another great song.
And I have long been a fan of Until the Night. When it was on the air, I would stop working to listen to it.
I saw Garth Brooks sing Shameless in concert and I thought it was his best song.
Mostly agree. I would add "Makes No Difference" by the Band. That gets me every time.
Like A Rolling Stone (yes I actually like it, not just posting to look cool).
In My Time Of Dying, and Kashmir.
The Good’s Gone, Circles, I Can See For Miles, Tommy, all of it together (but especially The Acid Queen), and pretty much all of Who’s Next.
Warning, War Pigs, Wheels Of Confusion, Snowblind, The Thrill Of It All.
Suicide Solution, Flying High Again.
Too many others I can’t think of right now, but, by Joni Mitchell, Allman Brothers Band, Chicago, Nirvana.
I already have a number of your favorites like Kashmir, War Pigs, Snowblind, Like A Rolling Stones, and songs by Ozzy, Joni Mitchell, the Allman Brothers, Chicago and Nirvana.

In My Time of Dying
I'm just not a Who fan other than Love Reign O'er Me.
I added my $.02 before reading.
Every little bit helps.
I would add one to the Jackson Browne group… Sky Blue and Black.
I will add it, thanks.
I’m a big Dave Matthews fan and The Space Between and Oh make my list of moving songs. Thanks for this list!!
You are very welcome.
Definitely agree on the majority of them! 👏🏻 I'm curious to know how do you feel about Annie's Song - John Denver
It's a lovely song. I will add it and credit you, thanks.
This is so kind of you, it makes me very happy. Thank you. This song touches me very deeply.
Thanks for suggesting it!
I applaud the time and effort you took to make this list.
Additionally, you note quite a few songs I absolutely enjoy listening to, as well as quite a few I’ve never heard (amazing, since I consider myself a listener with wide interests.)
Thank you ‼️😁
You are very welcome. I hope you have time to check out a few of the artists you haven't heard. They are all geniuses in my opinion.
Absolutely! I’m always interested in listening to “new” (to me) music😁👍
Happy hunting!
Winterlong and Deep forbidden Lake , See the Sky about to Rain, Pocahontas and Cortez the Killer by Neil Young
Will add.
I'm a Neil Young fan. In high school I wrote a poem modeled after "Old Man" for one of my teachers:
teacher
by michael r. burch
circa age 15
------------------------
teacher, take a look at my life,
for it has just begun
and u think that i am “misinformed”
merely because i'm young;
but the truth is often hidden
(what lies lurk behind ur eyes?)
and maybe Puff can tell u
where the Dragon flies.
teacher, take a look at my life:
urs is a dull-edged knife
(the white-hot blade long blunted).
now ur as cold as ice.
still, when u come to class,
act like u know it all,
for if u show insecurity,
surely wee will folderol.
I was channeling Young, Peter Paul and Mary, and e. e. cummings. I used "wee" for "we" as in tiny, insignificant people.
I have poems from that time channeling Young, Dylan and the Incredible String Band.
Young has many moving songs ( Out on the Weekend) and is still writing them (Music Arcade…)
My favorites include:
Old Man
After the Gold Rush
The Needle and the Damage Done
Heart of Gold
I love all those too :-)
