There are many wonderful poems in this post, but I've picked out 'Leave Taking' to restack because it's a very accomplished poem for somebody 14-15 to write. It seems to get better every time I read it.
"Remembering Not To Call" Went through this for years after my mother's death, especially when questions about the family, extended family came up. She remembered everything. Still comes around once in a while even though she's been dead for twenty years.
We were playing poker one night when I was about 16; two of the guys were late and I asked about them. Then were committing unseemly acts with a seemingly attractive heifer and apparently no one thought it abnormal. My thought was how could anyone get aroused over a cow?
