Tucked right in there in the middle of all these "cute and cuddly animal poems" is 'Siren Song' which, in my opinion, is an exquisite poem out of the top drawer, about the dangers of entrapment, and should be read by as many readers as possible.
Oh wow, a wee little Octopus climbing in a hand, oh wow. The odds of me seeing this are ? and yet here it is, right here with you, Sir Michael. You always deliver the goods!

Siren Song
by Michael R. Burch
The Lorelei’s
soft cries
entreat mariners to save her ...
How can they resist
her faint voice through the mist?
Soon she will savor
the flavor
of sweet human flesh.
Martin, I'm glad you like "Siren Song" which seems deliciously eerie to me.
I cannot express just how much I like it. And you're right - it is 'deliciously eerie'. Maybe that's why it appeals to me so much.
I have always liked those sort of poems. It's kinda cool that so few words can have the sort of effect.
Oh my, Beth’s Monarch Butterfly, that’s special indeed. Greetings Beth!
Beth says "Happy Thanksgiving!"
Oh wow
No One
Is really Something and Someone
I'm glad you liked "No One" -- it's my version of "What if god was one of us, just a stranger on a bus, trying to make his way home."
Evil, The Rat
I’m cackling like an old crow.
I think it suits Trump.

I'm glad you liked Egbert the Adorable Octopus!
