I may have been talking about Heaney's translation of Aeneid Book VI. He had just finished it when he died.

Yes, that seems to ring a bell. I think there was a line that appealed to me, and I decided to translate that passage. In fact, I now remember the line that caught my attention:

where the Cocytus glides with its dark coils (I think my line is a bit different, but close)

So you did put me up to it and deserve the credit!
