"Peace Prayer" is a poem I wrote for the poet Jim Dunlap, who died on 12-9-2024. These are prayer poems, hymns, and other poems I have written on the subjects of faith, belief and religion...
'Peace Prayer' reminds me very much of those wonderful translations you did of the prayers and blessings of the American Natives. It has the same reassuring tone - the same feeling of deep enduring wisdom.
I am reminded of the miracle of our Redeemer's multiplication of fishes and loaves. And of AM Swaine. And of turning water into wine; and of the Ohio Turnpike. And of a certain schizophrenic who would come by when around, to accommodate my penchant for pool and Bloody Caesars. "Memories." Bob Hope. Of weight, of volume, of necessities. Anything necessary is done without pleasure. Like a routine that comes to seem obligatory. Was rereading Emerson on Shakespeare ce soir. But what did he say about him? Ah yes, that his writings constitute an inimitable biography, that he is better known to us than anyone whose life was recorded by others, than Jesus, than Socrates. But I paraphrase.
Shakespeare's autograph tho is said to be inscribed in a volume of Montaigne essays, Ben Jonson's in another. It would've made a good primer, according to RWE anyway.

I think Shakespeare was writing from experience as a "wolfish earl" and thus was not the actor.
